Successful large scale solar projects are achieved by having a great team of partners working together, over the long term. IDSP carries out its project with our own team and a group of key partners that covers all aspects of the project from start to finish, and on to operations. Key areas are:
Engineering/Procurement/Construction (EPC): Our EPC partner for projects in Saudi Arabia is Belectric Gulf. Belectric, now part of RWE, is one of the major players in solar globally. Belectric Gulf has already done the largest solar project in KSA, and is itself a partnership with Al Jihaz, bringing local electrical engineering expertise to bear. IDSP chose Belectric Gulf in a competition involving 6 major solar EPC contractors. Belectric Gulf will also contract for the Operations and Maintenance of projects once they are commissioned, ensuring that our projects have continuity and ongoing commitment.
Technical Advisors: Our independent technical advisers are Sgurr, and UK company and part of the Wood Group. Sgurr has advised on more than 160 GW of solar projects world-wide. We count on Sgurr for design reviews, construction quality monitoring, advising us on technical choices that need to be made during the course of a project, and ensuring that operations and maintenance are being carried out properly. Sgurr also reviews all our proposed UK purchases, providing technical due diligence and giving assurance to our lenders and equity investors on the assets we are acquiring.
Legal: There are a number of key legal agreements associated with any major solar project. Eversheds Sutherland is acknowledged as the leading group on legal advice for such projects, including EPC contracts, maintenance, and power purchase agreements. We use Eversheds teams in London and Riyadh as our legal advisers on all projects.
